The lodge lit up at night

The lodge

Thatched rondavels on the lawn, overlooking the dam. Comfortable, quiet and built for hunters.

The rondavels

Each of our traditional thatched rondavels offers a comfortable, private space to relax and unwind after a day of hunting. Each rondavel has its own small veranda, comfortable beds, an en-suite bathroom with toilet, shower and basin, and a heater for those cold winter nights, when much of the hunting takes place.

Every guest has their own room, with couples sharing. For families travelling with children, we can accommodate different arrangements, whether you prefer to share a room with your children or have them stay in their own rooms.

Daily laundry service is included, making sure you feel at home throughout your stay.

The grounds

Set among beautiful, established gardens and surrounded by tall trees, our lodge offers a peaceful setting to relax and unwind between hunting outings. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool, soak up the sunshine on the loungers, or take in the views of the dam from our thatched lapa.

As evening approaches, gather around the boma’s fire pit or at the lapa, the perfect setting to enjoy the fresh air, unwind and share stories from the day’s adventures.

Food, drinks and the lodge

Good food and warm hospitality are at the heart of the Thompson Safaris experience. Start your day with a continental breakfast before heading into the field, followed by a freshly prepared, fully cooked lunch and supper back at the lodge. Our home-cooked meals offer a taste of traditional South African hospitality, with venison dishes featured on the menu alongside a variety of other meals throughout your stay.

Please let us know of any dietary requirements or food allergies when booking so that we can accommodate your needs wherever possible.

Our comfortable lounge area offers a cosy space to read a book or simply put your feet up. When it’s time to unwind, the Hairy Fairy Bar is ready to welcome you with a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, all included in your daily rate.
